If you do not have an Eco-Lawn, then you should fertilize with Turf Maize in the fall and the spring since weeds grow and thrive in thin and dry areas. If you fertilize at these two times, the grass and roots will be too thick for weeds to germinate. If you cut your lawn at the recommended height of 2.5 to 3 inches, then there will be sufficient shade on the roots, which are extremely shallow in a regular lawn, to help protect them from damaging heat and keep them moist.
