Reduce Your Carbon Footprint
Reducing your eco-footprint is easier than you think
At ECOrganics, we believe that we can all do our part to help protect the environment by reducing our eco-footprint. Check out some of the simple ways you can take small steps towards a greener future:
Around your home
- Use the smallest and most energy efficient appliances possible.
- Use rechargeable batteries and eco-friendly lightbub.
Conserve energy by hanging your clothes on a Cord-O-Clip line to dry. - Use non-toxic, plant-based soaps and detergents.
- Use less hot water when washing dishes.
- Turn off lights and unplug rechargeable devices when not in use.
- Pack waste-free lunches for the office and school with reusable containers.
- Stay healthy, do exercise and take vitamin daily
Shop local
- Buy local, organically grown foods – they taste better and you will be helping to reduce emissions.
- Buy unpackaged fruits and vegetables and use Zeocrisp to help prevent them from spoiling too quickly.
- Avoid buying overpackaged foods.
- Compost food waste.
- Avoid disposable plastic and Styrofoam containers that make their way to landfills, think reusable instead.
- Make the switch to cloth or compostable diapers.
- Take reusable shopping bags with you wherever you go.
Protecting the great outdoors
- Reduce air pollution by trading in your gas powered or electric lawn mower for a reel mower instead.
- If you use gas or diesel powered lawn equipment, mix the fuel with eeFuel to reduce emissions to near zero.
- Gas and diesel powered tools give off more emissions than motor vehicles.
- Water plants in the morning or evening.
- A drip irrigation system uses less water than any other method and will help your plants by inspiring the plant roots to grow deeper.
- Switch to an Eco-Lawn. Once established, you will never water, fertilize, or use weed control; grubs don’t like it, and the best part is you will only have to cut it once a month!
- Use all-natural, organic lawn care products such as TurfMaize to prevent dandelion seed and crabgrass germination.
Getting around
- Use two wheels instead of four and ride your bike wherever you can, buy yourself a nice pair of running shoes.
- Use eeFuel to increase your mileage and reduce your emissions and Maxigrip ice studs instead of tire chains during winter
- Take public transit.
- Walk the kids to school.
- Car pool whenever possible.
At the office
- Live close to where you work.
- Save our trees by asking yourself whether you really need to print it.
- If you do print, use 100 per cent recycled paper.
- Use eco-friendly light bulbs.
